Across-the-Board Raises (ATBs): A fair and equitable across-the-board pay increase for every member of our Coalition. We have held to our proposal for 6.5%, 6.5%, 5.75%, 5.75%. Kaiser is continuing to offer only 3%, 3%, 3%, 3% for southern California and 4%, 4%, 3%, 3% for northern California.On six important issues, though, we remain far apart: There have been good discussions with Kaiser on a number of issues, and while there is no concrete agreement, we can see a path to resolution on raising shift differentials, a fair remote work agreement, and investments in training for both current employees to promote to harder to fill jobs and community members to become the healthcare workforce needed for the future. In a few hours, our contract will expire and it doesn’t look like we will have a new agreement. ![]() Kaiser Bargaining Update #11 – September 30, 2023Ĭontract set to expire at midnight without an agreement. We will continue to send updates as they happen. We also let them know we are not interested in outsourcing the revenue cycle jobs. We have told Kaiser that we are not changing our wage proposal and that only a unified, respectful wage increase across the coalition will result in an agreement. ![]() They made progress on remote workers – increasing reimbursement for wifi to $50 a month and phone to $20 a month, and if there is a return to facility work there will be 60 days notice, bargaining and if someone is unable to return they will have a 90 day extension of remote work during which they can spend half of their scheduled time with pay pursuing alternative positions.They agreed to renew our outsourcing and subcontracting protections for everyone except the revenue cycle, and they committed to not layoff any revenue cycle workers for 2 years.Kaiser proposed wage increases of 4%/4%/4%/4% in Northern California and 3.5%/3%/3%/3% In Southern California.Kaiser gave us 3 new proposals this morning: Kaiser Bargaining Update #12 – October 1, 2023 Calls are pouring in from elected officials and community allies asking what they can do to support healthcare workers. Members in the facilities are getting commitments from doctors, registered nurses, pharmacists, engineers and others to exercise their personal right not to cross our picket lines. And we are prepared! The overwhelming majority of UHW members at Kaiser have signed up for a shift on the strike line! Bargaining team members are getting pulled out every hour to do interviews with media outlets both local and national. We have no choice but to prepare for the likelihood that Kaiser will continue to choose unfair labor practices over bargaining in good faith with us to solve the Kaiser Staffing crisis. These are the questions being debated in Kaiser corporate offices as you read this. Is Kaiser going to grow as a high road, quality care, union wage and benefit healthcare provider? Or as a low road, non-union, race to the bottom corporation?.Is Kaiser going to back off its scheme to throw hundreds of revenue cycle workers’ lives into turmoil by outsourcing the work to a for profit, low wage company?. ![]()
